DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Headline Surfer won a third-place award for Sports Writing from the Florida Press Club in the 2019 statewide journalism contest. 

Henry Frederick was the recipient of the award for his stories on Denny Hamlin's second win in the Daytona 500, Daytona's Vince Carter returning to the NBA for the 22nd season, and MLB pitchers Jacob deGrom and Corey Kluber getting their start at Stetson.
