Winter Olympics in Beijing were terrible

EDGEWATER, Fla. -- There was a general lack of interest in the Winter Olympics in Beijing with good reason.

Those who have been inclined to watch on NBC were turned off by improprieties that kept arising with poor decisions by the International Olympic Committee.

An American with dual citizenship with China was a participant. She told the press when she is in America she is American and when she is in China she is Chinese. This did not sit right with us Americans.

Then a Russian skater, Kamila Valieva, was found to be taking a heart medication that is banned but a funny thing that was not found until she had already begun participating. The IOC's rationale was it would be detrimental to her to stop her from competing so she can skate but if she comes in first, second or third no one gets a medal. Thankfully, she was less than stellar.

I think the Russian skater should have been disqualified.

All this was so unfair to our Olympians competitors working their hearts out and competing against cheaters. Why are we even sending our people to China when we do not approve of how they treat their citizens? These games should be held only in neutral places so everyone has a real chance.

The world’s politics is out of control as much as they are in this country. It's all very sad.
