Theodore Scott Douglas, III "Ted", 59, a native of New Smyrna Beach, who worked for Carter Electric for many years and enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Early Tuesday surfers discovered the washed up carcass of an adult-spotted dolphin just south of the South Jetty, the fourth such dead dolphin in the past 10 days in the vicinity.
Marine biologists are puzzled as to why the dolphins met their fate, though they may have one significant clue.

NEW SMTRNA BEACH, Fla. -- There were lots of local community volunteers at the annual New Smyrna Beach Charity Ball at the Brannon Center.
For Kaye Walker, one of the organizers, it'sabout fenerating money for charity.
"If everyone contreibutes just a little bit it can make a difference," Walker said.

EDGEWATER -- An 18-year-old man was found dead in in a ditch in front of his father's Needle Palm Drive home this morning by a passerby, Edgewater police said.
The body, identified as that of Jonathan R. Novenski, was spotted by a person walking by at 7 a.m., police said.
Foul play is not suspected at this time in the teen's death who may have died as a result of an accidental overdose of some kind while at a party hours earlier, police said.
