National Weather Service: Freeze warning overnight in greater Daytona Beach

Cold overnight in Daytona / Headline SurferDAYTONA BEACH -- A freeze warning goes into effect for Lake and Volusia Counties for early Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

The freeze warning is expected to begin at 4 a.m. and end at 9 a.m. Sunday, with overnight wind chill factor in the 20s. A freeze watch will also be in effect overnight Sunday and into Monday morning. Steady northwest winds behind the front will continue to push very cold air southward tonight.

Minimum temperatures by Sunday morning are expected to be in the low 30s. Freezing temperatures will then be possible again early Monday morning as light winds and clear skies allow temperatures to fall rapidly Sunday night.

Sensitive Plants should be covered or brought indoors in advance of freezing temperatures. Pets should also be brought indoors.
