Headline Surfer® graphic / WINTER GARDEN, Fla. -- A Louisiana family's visit to Walt Disney World was supposed to be magical. Instead, it turned into a nightmare: Orange County Sheriff's deputies found a 9-month-old baby found unresponsive on Aug. 23, a Saturday, when they responded to a 9-1-1 call from a family member at the Lake Tiki Village resort six miles away from Walt Disney World.
The child, identified as Demareona Clay, died shortly after transport to a local hospital after deputies responded to an emergency call at 9:10 a.m. at the resort spread across 64 acres on US 192 -- a 10-minute commute from Disney and about 6 miles away. It's a family setting with paddle boats, barbecue grills, tennis courts, and a playground. And the victim's family was visiting here from Louisiana when the incident occurred.
Dorothy Clay, the grandmother, found the baby unconscious in bed, leading to the 9-1-1 call. Deputies later said the girl's death was accidental.
