Deltona convenience store robbed by gunman

DELTONA -- A woman clerk was shoved by a gunman when she initially refused his demand for cash at a Deltona convenience store early Thursday morning, before he reached over the counter and took money, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

There were no shots fired or any serious injuries in the 1:42 a.m. robbery at the Kangaroo Store, 2910 Howland Blvd.

One clerk was in the store while a second clerk was outside cleaning the gas pumps area. The robber entered the store, pointed a gun at the clerk behind the counter and demanded money from the register. The 48-year-old woman initially refused, prompting the man to grab her by the arm and shove her. He then reached over the counter and opened the register himself. Once he grabbed a handful of cash, he then fled. The clerk quickly called 911.

The robber was described as a white man about 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8 with an average build. He had brown hair, a mustache and a goatee. He wore a brown jacket and a white and green baseball cap.
