'Mad Dog' radio has plenty to talk about with the national sports scene in full swing

Before Christopher "Mad Dog" Russo gets all amped up today about his San Francisco Giants in their opening series game against the visiting Atlanta Braves, the Sirius-XM Radio host will have to spend time talking about Wednesday night's games.

Let's start with a no hitter.

What a night for Major League Baseball. It doesn't get any better than Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay pitching a no-hitter against the slugging Cincinnati Reds in the opening game of their postseason series.

Not to be outdone, the Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees traded leads before the Bronx Bombers eked out a win in game 1 of that best of 5 series. The Tampa Bay Rays were upended in their opening series by the Texas Rangers and their ace pitcher, Cliff Lee. All that's left now is to see how the Atlanta Braves fare on the road today against the San Francisco Giants.

Baseball is back in full force, even overshadowing the Randy Moss trade from the New England Patriots back to the Minnesota Vikings. And just in time for a big game between the Vikings and the New York Jets.

This is the time of year where all the major sports cross paths. LeBron James and Chris Bosh led the Miami Heat to a crushing defeat of the Detroit Pistons in pre-season NBA, even with DeWayne Wade going down with a hamstring pull.

Pre-season NHL starts today and in college football, the big SEC game between Alabama and Florida resulted in the Gators going down. Then there's NASCAR's Sprint Cup "Chase," with who else, but Jimmy Johnson, out in front again, and going for an unprecedented five championships in a row.

Yes, it's great to be a sports fan. And there's no better place for sports talk than "Mad Dog Radio" on my Sirius satellite radio in the sanctity of my car.
