"On June 14, millions in more than 2,000 cities and towns will join the No Kings mobilization to reject authoritarian overreach, defend democracy, and stand up for their communities," nokings.org said in a news release.
The day is intended to be a "national day of peaceful mobilization to defend democracy, reject authoritarian overreach, and stand up for their communities."
These protests are part of a nationwide "No Kings Day of Defiance" against the Trump administration. They are scheduled to coincide with Flag Day, President Donald Trump's birthday, and a U.S. Army anniversary celebration. Law enforcement in Central Florida is aware of these planned demonstrations.
It's important to note that "King's Day" (Koningsdag) is a national holiday in the Netherlands celebrating the birthday of King Willem-Alexander. This is a completely separate event and is not related to the "No Kings" protests in Florida. Koningsdag is characterized by widespread celebrations throughout the Netherlands, with street parties, flea markets, concerts, and festivities where people traditionally wear orange in honor of the House of Orange-Nassau.
