Wow! These look like really cool events, but who is paying for them? Click the link and you'll see exactly what I am talking about: http://www.dbnjshows.com/
In this recession where everyone is struggling, how much taxpayer money is involved, whether it's from a CRA or an advertising authority? How much of what we see in the print media is advertising disguised as "marketing?"
Who decides how much money is allotted and are media outlets as transparent as the they expect their city and county governments to be.
With that in mind, NSBNews.net will bring back its "Show Me The Money" investigative reports.
Who got paid back first and who was left holding the bag from the American Music Festival fiasco? Who are the members of the power elite and how is it that they control your tax dollars?
Where are the Community Redevelopment Agency districts? How is money dispensed by the advertising authorities?
These are questions we are going to try to get answers on from elected officials and bureaucrats alike as well as media representatives, though we doubt we'll get cooperation from the latter.
How much of the news in Volusia County is influenced by advertising and/or marketing?
There was a recent story done in the print media about the salaries of those paid with use of public monies. We'll think you'll be surprised that out Top 10 list will not be the same. Not even close.
This is a story that needs to be told by a media outlet that has no conflicts of interests, no marketing agreements and no ties like the print media outlets that cater to those in control of the taxpayers' purse strings, either through CRAs or bed tax monies.
We're interested in pursuing this not only because of the AMF fiasco, but also because of recent stories on hirings and firings in the advertising authorities.
We hope to have this investigative reports segment published before year's end. Make no mistake about it: This is the most important issue that needs to be addressed, especially heading into an election year because it affects all of us.
