Trail progress along Grand Avenue to be discussed at Jan. 14 workshop

DELAND -- Volusia County’s Public Works Department will host a community workshop to address progress on the Spring-to-Spring Trail being constructed along Grand Avenue in the Glenwood area north of DeLand. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Glenwood Presbyterian Church, 3190 Grand Ave., Glenwood.

The meeting will include an open house at 6 p.m. and a presentation at 6:30 p.m. followed by questions and answers at 6:30 p.m.

Volusia County has completed construction of the multi-use trail along Grand Avenue on the north and south ends and is exploring options to complete the trail between King and Lemon streets. County officials have identified three options that focus on avoiding tree removal while providing a trail that is safe for users and nearby motorists.

The Spring-to-Spring Trail is planned as a multi-use trail that one day will stretch 28 miles from Gemini Springs Park to DeLeon Springs State Park. Six segments, totaling 15 miles of trail, have been completed.
