Sheriff Mike Chitwood speeding

In December 2017, off-duty Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) deputy Luke Deegan

was arrested after causing a multi-vehicle crash in his personal car in Daytona Beach

. He was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), two counts of DUI with property damage, and three counts of DUI with injuries.

The incident unfolded on December 23, 2017, with the following details:

    The collision occurred at the intersection of Williamson Boulevard and Dunn Avenue around 7:09 p.m.
  • Injuries & Damage:

    Three other vehicles were involved, and three people were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Deegan
