Two victims, including one who’s confined to a wheelchair, were shocked with a stun gun Tuesday night inside their home in Deltona by masked intruders who made off with a laptop computer, a Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman said.
Neither victim was seriously injured in the attack, which is under investigation by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to 1571 Fort Smith Boulevard after the Sheriff’s Office received a call about the incident at 6:15 p.m. The victims, a 20-year-old man in a wheelchair and his 23-year-old sister-in-law, told deputies that it appears that the intruders got into the house through an unlocked door. A friend of the victims was also at the house at the time of the attack, but left before deputies arrived.
"Both victims said they were shocked in the neck by one of the intruders with a stun gun," Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said. "The other suspect was armed with a knife and baseball bat, and both wore masks to conceal their faces. The female victim said she was shoved after being shocked with the stun gun and rammed her head into a door. The male victim was in the process of getting in his wheelchair when he was shocked and then went to the ground. In addition to the computer, the female victim said her wallet and makeup bag were also missing. Both victims sustained swelling and redness to their necks, but declined medical treatment."
The attacker with the stun gun was described as an approximately 5 feet 9 dark-skinned man wearing all black clothing, black gloves and a black ski mask. The other intruder with the bat and knife appeared to be a white teenager, 5 feet 5, also was wearing black clothes, black gloves and a black ski mask.
