NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A Mary Avenue teen-ager was charged with felony battery of an education employee, after allegedly hitting a New Smyrna High School employee on the arm following a dispute with another student during a college assessment test Saturday, according to New Smyrna Beach police.
Miracle Chanelle Walker, 18, was taking the ACT when she and another test-taker got into an argument, Cathleen Milligan, testing coordinator, told police, adding she ordered them out of the classroom and to turn in their tests. But Walker refused, Milligan told police, and threw her papers down the hall while striking her arm.
After heated words, Walker left the school grounds and was located at her home, police said. She was released from the Volusia County Branch Jail after posting $1,000 bail.
