DAYTONA BEACH -- Fresh off a beatdown of Obama in two presidential debates, Mitt Romney is coming to the world's most famous beach tonight during the peak of Biketoberfest no less.
And he's bringing runningmate Paul Ryan, too, along with the national media corps.
The Romney-Ryan Express holds court at the Bandshell. And the only thing separating Romney from thousands of bikers, babes and booze is the towering Ocean Walk Shoppes.
Volusia County Republican officials were ecstatic at Tuesday's Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce Hob Nob at the Ocean Center when they learned from Romney's camp that he and Ryan would be holding a Friday night rally at the Bandshell.
Then they were told the next day there was a change of plans and only Ryan would be here. And less than a day later, it was announced Romney would be here after all.
"It's an exciting time for Republicans and all Americans," said Stan Escudero, chairman of the Volusia County Republican Executive Committee and a blogger for Headline Surfer, the 24/7 Internet newspaper.
