ORMOND BEACH --The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion robbery near Ormond Beach late Wednesday night, during which two of the residents were pistol-whipped before their vehicle was stolen and later found crashed.
TALLAHASSEE -- - The House Economic Development Policy Committee unanimously passed State Rep. Dorothy L. Hukill’s bill Wednesday to help keep Florida at the forefront of cutting edge space technology, her staff announced.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Carol Kelley, principal of New Smyrna Beach High School, is out of work indefinitely after undergoing surgery March 3 for a broken pelvis and hip suffered in an earlier car accident, according to the school's Web site.
Assistant Principal Teresa Marcks is serving as acting principal while the 62-year-old Kelley recuperates from the Feb. 28 accident.
DAYTONA BEACH -- Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport (DBIA) decreased 42 percent in February 2009 compared with the same month a year ago.
During February, 37,277 passengers traveled through the county-operated airport, compared with the 64,295 travelers recorded in February 2008. For the 12-month period ending Feb. 28, 549,178 passengers traveled through DBIA, compared with 695,017 passengers in 2008, representing a 21-percent decrease.
ORMOND BEACH -- Four years in the can apparently wasn't enough for a 38-year-old convicted babk robber who was arrested over the weekend on charges of robbing the same bank Friday, police said.
Shawn Carl Bullard served four years in prison for the 2003 robbery of the Bank of America branch at 299 North Nova Road, police said. On Friday, that same banlk was robbed, and like the first time, surveillance vcameras captured the robber on video.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The way City Commissioner William Hathaway sees it, nothing will be lost by allowing City Attorney Frank Gummey and interim City Manager Khalid Resheidat to meet next week with members of the Angler's Club before the city spends money on outside counsel to investigate the legitimacy of a longstanding lease agreement for prime public waterfront property.
"If it blows up in our face, we re-group," Hathaway said earlier tonight.
