KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Unincorporated areas of Osceola County are under an outdoor burn ban due to lack of rainfall throughout the county that has sent its Keetch-Byram Drought Index over 500.

The ban, which took effect Jan. 22, is for all types of outside burning, including open fire pits, campfires, and yard debris. It be enforced by Osceola County Code Enforcement, Law Enforcement and Emergency Services personnel. Osceola County Fire Rescue will continue to monitor conditions to determine when the burn ban will be lifted.

ORLANDO -- Senior U.S. District Judge John Antoon has sentenced a 31-year-old Kissimmee man in September to five years in federal prison for receipt of child pornography, that included more than 100,000 still images and videos. Lee also was ordered to register as a sex offender and to serve a 10-year term of supervision, upon his release from prison.

The sentencing hearing  was a follow-up to Alexander Lee's June 26, 2012, guilty plea before Antoon.

KISSIMMEE -- A man wearing a ball cap and jacket walked into the Chase Bank at 12:50 p.m. today, approached the teller, removed a folded nylon bag from his pocked and ordered the her to fill it with cash.

No weapon was displayed or implied and nobody was hurt in the hold-up, Kissimmee police spokeswomamn Stacie Miller told Headline Surfer®.
