Paul, Brennon and Heidi are training to participate in the Walt Disney World Half and Full Marathon in January 2011 as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- What do hair cuts and breast cancer have in common? Nothing, unless you want to do your share to help fight the dreaded disease.
From 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Denise Marie will convert her Dapper Dan's Haircuts and More, 633 N. Dixie Freeway, into the "Cut for the Cure: a Haircut - a- Thon."
Marie, along with four other stylists will donate 100% of the price of haircuts to the Susan Komen Breast cancer Research Foundation.

SAMSULA -- School supporters and parents are organizing the third annual Fall Festival Fundraiser to benefit Samsula Academy. The event, hosted at SNPJ Lodge, 421 N. Samsula Drive is slated to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Festivities include music, game booths and food.

Kerry-Anne Purkiss and Adam Barringer take a break from his SoNapa Wine Co. during a fundraiser there several weeks back for her youth organization, K.C. Society, which provides educational and recreation outlets for teens.
Barringer, of course, is mayor of New Smyrna Beach and Purkiss is a blogger for NSBNEWS.net, featured on the opinion page. The fundraiser generated $500.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A spaghetti dinner benefit is planned for Ray Wright to help him with
expenses after he received a new heart in March at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville. The benefit dinner will have dine-in and take-out service from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, at J.C.’s Restaurant, 409 Mary Ave.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The Allen AME Church is holding a fish fry and chicken wings extravaganza 11 a.m. today to benefit its choir and chorus programs, 344 Sheldon St., crossing Mary Street. Sandwiches are $7 and fries are only a buck.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The Timeless Wings and Wheels will hold its third annual “John Kellat Memorial Veterans Appreciation Dinner from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 333 S. Street in the American Aero Services building near the New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The New Smyrna Beach Lions Club will hold a pancake breakfast Saturday at the New Smyrna Beach Lions Club, 2340 Sunset Drive.
For $5, you get three fluffy pancakes, ewo sausages orange juice and coffee. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Lions Community Service Fund. For more information, please call 423-5556.
