The state's chief financial officer post is bureaucratic, but nonetheless political and important as the elected office holder is responsible for the proper accounting of public monies.

Elected as president of the Florida Senate in 2008, Republican Jeff Atwater of North Palm Beach is a banker. His Democratic opponent, a former state representative from Tallahassee, is not. That answers that question.
