Sally GilliesHenry FrederickPolitical blogger Sally Gillies of SallyGillies.net has teamed up with award-winning newspaper reporter and journalist Henry Frederick, editor/publisher/CEO of NSBNews.Net for this investigative series, "Show Me The Money: American Music Festival Fiasco." Here is her first blog installment:

DAYTONA BEACH -- The taxpayers across Volusia County just can't catch a break: Apparently Daytona State College's request for mediation over the $1.5 million owed by the Community Cultural Foundation to the college is now in limbo.

In a letter dated Sept.15, 2011, and sent to DSC attorneys Holland & Knight, CCF board member and attorney J. Lester Kaney of the Daytona Beach-based Cobb Cole law firm, states: "There is no point in scheduling a mediation with CCF unless the (insurance) carrier participates."

And then to add insult to injury, Kaney maintains: "We continue to reject the assertion that CCF is a public entity and reject that CCF was at any time acting on behalf of a public entity such that it is subject to public records request under Chapter 119, Florida Statutes.

Towing War: Edgewater owner under attack

Myron Hammond of Edgewater Towing & RecoveryNSBNews.net photo by Henry Frederick / NSBNews.net went on a ride-along interview Saturday with Myron Hammond of Edgewater Towing & Recovery for his take on a proposal the Edgewater City Commission will consider tonight that could result in him losing two-thirds of his police towing contract to two outside companies. Why? That's what this investigative story will uncover.

EDGEWATER -- Myron Hammond of Edgewater Towing & Recovery is in the fight of his life to save his employees' jobs with the city officials on the verge of taking away two-thirds of his police towing services and giving them to Universal Towing and Bishop's Towing, two outside companies, even though he's done the job for 10 years and there is no cost savings to the municipality with the switch. NSBNews.net is the only media outlet to show any interest in getting his side of the story and the economic impact this would have on his business and his employees with families praying they won't lose their jobs as a result.

The story revolves around politics and accusations of favoritism. There's a big showdown at tonight's City Commission on the issue. NSBNews.net will have the full story, including exclusive video coverage, shortly, in advance of the meeting.

GOP's Herman Cain the real deal

We left the Orlando Peabody Hotel Friday evening and quick-stepped over to the Rosen Center for a “Meet and Greet” with Presidential candidate Herman Cain. It was scheduled to begin at 7:30 but delayed while management set up a room twice as large to hold the excited Republicans. And still the crowd spilled over.

Social Security: The World’s Biggest Ponzi Scheme

Political candidates have been arguing over whether Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme. To understand this issue, we must understand what a Ponzi Scheme is and what Social Security is.

Historically a man named Ponzi offered investors large returns if they would invest in his business scheme. There was no business or investment activity in Ponzi’s scheme. He simply took part of the money he took in and made large payments to his investors. He spent the rest of the money. As long as new investors kept investing and the money didn’t run out the scheme went along smoothly.

However, as one would expect Ponzi, ran out of new investors and people started to get suspicious. Investors disappeared; Ponzi’s scheme collapsed; and Ponzi went to jail.
