Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach to hold three summer camps

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach will host three WonderLand Summer Camps.

# A summer camp for 8 to 14 year olds from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp will begin on June 10, and run for two weeks, ending on June 21. The cost of the camp is $240. It features "The Hobbit Adventure," a play by Edward Mast, adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's novel, a suspenseful, fast-moving journey through the sometimes dark, sometimes charming, always compelling world of Middle Earth.

Orange City woman charged with prostitution in Polk County undercover sex sting that netted 92 arrests

ORANGE CITY -- A 39-year-old Orange City woman was among 92 people arrested in an undercover sting conducted by the Polk County Sheriff's Office 39-year-old Dorien Sawyer, DOB 3/24/1974, of Orange City, was arrested when she came to the undercover location offering to commit lewdness; she was charged with: one count Prostitution; she has prior arrests for Worthless Checks and Grand Theft.

DAYTONA BEACH -- I will say the rock star of the evening at the Lincoln Day Dinner on May 10 at the Daytona Beach Resort and Convention Center was none other than the the primary speaker, Congressman Ron DeSantis. What resonated with the crowd was how he lived up to his campaign and how he declined the Congressional pension plan and health care.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- It has long been a contention of mine that the GOP, in general, does not seem to know or even care about how to bring the youth to the party. However, judging by the 2013 Lincoln Day Dinner that put on by the Republican Party of Volusia County, it is obvious that there is at least one portion of the party that seems to understand how important the youth are.

EDGEWATER -- A yard-sale fundraiser is being held Friday, Saturday and Sunday to help provide care for Amy Sue Root, the little girl struck by a motor vehicle while riding her scooter.

The fundraiser is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. all three days at 3207 Silver Palm Drive, rain or shine.

Amy Sue Root was just 8 years old when she was struck by a truck while riding her Razor scooter in her Edgewater neighborhood on Jan. 24, 2010.

Citizens asked to fill vacancies on several Edgewater municipal boards
