Anthony Weiner: The fall of arrogance

Anthony Weiner (D-NY) resigned his seat in Congress, as he should have done a week ago. By all accounts he had been an effective representative and a passionate supporter of liberal and Democratic Party causes. He would have been a strong contender to become the next mayor of New York with the future possibility of a governorship or even more. But he was a deeply flawed man who quickly succumbed to the arrogance, the hubris, which often comes to characterize powerful politicians.

Americans resilient through spate of killer tornadoes and other disasters

If you don’t think American people are resilient just turn on your television and watch the survivors of the recent tornadoes in Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and other Midwest states wander through their devastated neighborhoods trying to identify which rubble pile used to be their home so they can try to find some of their belongings.

Is America being punished with tornadoes because we don't recognize God?

Have we been plagued? Is it just me or are there others out there with the same thought? It seems to me ever since the speech by President Obama that we are not a Christian nation, the U.S. and other parts of the world have had their share of devastating weather: the earthquake in Japan, Floods in Europe. More than 1,000 have tornadoes hit our country, wiping out cities and killing hundreds of people. It seems there is no end in sight. Do you think God is trying to tell us something?

Below is a copy of my request to appear before the New Smyrna Beach City Commission, our supposed leaders, who to date have been totally indifferent as to the goings on over at Bert Fish, where "millions of dollars" of legal fees have continued to be run up by the attorneys; all the while that our elected and appointed officials are more interested in the same old back-slapping and kumbaya crap that this commission has been bragging about for way too long.

Producing balanced budget met in Legislature session

Now that the 2011 Legislative Session has been completed, I wanted to reflect back on what we were able to accomplish this year. We faced historic challenges that required strong leadership and the willingness to make the tough choices in difficult times. Last November, you re-elected me to the Florida House of Representatives to serve as your voice in Tallahassee.

President Obama's bumbling foreign policy in Middle East will lead to more unrest

In just a few sentences, and apparently without congressional input, President Obama betrayed the only democracy in the Middle East: Israel. Obama’s bumbling foreign policy in the Middle East will cause great unrest and the possibility of renewed fighting is very real as Muslim nations see America’s weakness.
