I have two children living in Europe and I have had many visits during the Bush years. We were hated!

My daughter, Jennifer Glasse, who is a journalist with Voice of America, has a very good Norwegian journalist friend, Asne Seierstad, who wrote “ The Book Seller of Kabul.” You should read the book.I was invited to have lunch with my daughter and Asne and during our conversation she said this of George Bush: “He is a dangerous Cowboy.”

That about says it all regarding our perception throughout the world for the Bush and Cheney years.

There was no reason for this. None!

Sheriff's Office: Meth labs in NSB, Port Orange smashed; seven arrested

Francesco Vezza, 53, of New Smyrna Beach, and Angel Somma, 28, of Edgewater, were among seven people arrested Thursday on drug charges in connection with law enforcement raids on meth labs in Port Orange and New Smyrna Beach.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- One of the largest methamphetamine labs ever found in Volusia County was raided Thursday morning in Port Orange and a second meth lab in New Smyrna Beach was hit as well, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Edgewater Library to host 'New Moon' event Nov. 19

EDGEWATER -- Teenagers are invited to celebrate their excitement for everything “New Moon” from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Edgewater Public Library.

“New Moon” is the second novel in Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight” series, which has teens around the world hooked on reading. The movie will be released in theaters Nov. 20.

The library staff will offer games, crafts, prizes and snacks relating to “New Moon.” Fans can bring a camera and have their picture taken with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of character Edward Cullen.
