NSBNEWS.net photo by Henry Frederick. Many of us woke up Saturday morning to sleet on our motor vehicles, plants, decks, orange trees, etc.
It is so c-c-c-old out there. Day or night it doesn't matter.
The cold is inescapable. Even inside with the heat on it's cold. Our two dogs are cold and shiver. Our bunny has a temporary home in the laundry room. Our macaw is cranky from the cold. I wok up to the sound of freezing rain, also known as sleet, which accumulated on the front and rear windows of my car as shown in the photo above.
Here is another photo of the rear window. The ice almost looks like diamond chips. It's actually partially frozen water. Though several media outlets have described the white stuff as snow, it's not.
It's sleet, which is more crystalized and hard. Anyone who has grown up in the Northeast knows the difference. Anyone who has been through the Blizzard of '78 can tell you the difference from personal experience.
Like many of you, no doub, I just want it to end. This is Florida, the Sunshine State. The National Weather Service in Melbourne said Saturdaynight will be the worst of it with wind chills making freezing temps feel like it's in the 20s.
That is something we can all do without.
