EDGEWATER -- A 27-year-old Port Orange man was arrested Tuesday on charges he committed sexual battery on a 14-year-old girl after drugging her to the point where she was incapacitated, Edgewater police said.

The alleged incident occurred in Edgewater the night before, Edgewater police Detective Chris DeRosa said, adding that the accused confessed to the crime in a telephone call from police, leading to his 12:10 p.m. Tuesday arrest.

Geoffrey Elliott Goodrich, was subsequently incarcerated at the Volusia Branch Jail in Daytona Beach on $100,000 bail

Here is a synopsis of what happened, according to DeRosa's report: "Investigation revealed that Goodrich had supplied the juvenile with narcotics, and possibly prescription pain medications, to the point the victim was physically unable to resist. Mr. Goodrich then committed the sexual battery upon the juvenile. Before the arrest, a controlled phone call was made to Mr. Goodrich, in which he admitted to the sexual assault, and to supplying the juvenile with narcotics and prescription pain medications."
