EDGEWATER -- Ashley Reed, a 19-year-old freshman at Florida State University, and a 2009 graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School, has received two prestigious honors.

Reed was named recipient of a $1,000 annual scholarship by Community Papers of Florida, in recognition of her 3.9 grade point average at FSU. She will receive a matching amount each of the next three years if she maintains her average.
