PORT ORANGE -- A precautionary boil-water notice remains in effect for
385 homes in the Spruce Creek Fly-in subdivision west of Port Orange, according to Volusia County officials.
Utilities crews shut off water to the homes from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Tuesday,, so Spruce Creek Fly-in public works staff could install a stormwater line on Roscoe Turner Trail. The water was shut off the same time frame Wednesday, as the installation project continued.
Streets affected by the boil notice include Spruce Creek Boulevard from Baron Court to King Air Court, Baron Court, Spruce Creek Way, Mitchell Court, Earhart Court, Doolittle Court, Slow Flight Drive, Wright Drive, Lindberg Lane, Wiley Post Trail, Roscoe Turner Trail, Avanti Court, King Air Court, Canadair Court, Autumn Leaves Drive, Summer Green Drive and Winterford Drive.
Residents were notified by the subdivision’s public works staff through an internal notification system and verbally by security staff at each entrance.
A boil-water notice advises residents to bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute before using it for drinking, cooking or ice-making. It is not necessary to boil water for showering or other external uses.
The notice is expected to be removed after two consecutive days of satisfactory tests. However, customers should wait until they receive a rescission notice from Volusia County Water Resources Utilities before resuming normal usage. Notices will be posted on the doors of the affected homes.
