DAYTONA BEACH -- Things are looking up at Daytona Beach International Airport economy wise. Passenger traffic at the airport increased 2 percent in February compared with the same month a year ago.
Last month, 43,757 passengers flew in and out of the county-operated airport. This compares with 42,803 travelers recorded in February 2010.
The increase in February continued a trend of traffic growth that began in November 2009, according to Airport Director Rick Karl.
Over this time, Delta Air Lines and U.S Airways have provided larger aircraft, more available seats and competitive fares.
“We continue to be pleased that Delta and U.S Airways are trending upward at Daytona Beach International Airport,” Karl said. “We are looking forward to this being another positive growth year for the airport.”
For the 12 months through February, total passenger traffic increased 15 percent over the prior year to 502,299.
