Bert Fish Medical Center names Dr. Kimberly L. Clayton “Physician of the Year”

NEW SMYRNA BEACH — Kimberly L. Clayton, MD, has been named “Physician of the Year” by Bert Fish Medical Center, a spokeswoman for the hospital announced today.

"Dr. Clayton, a general surgeon, was recognized at a March 30 celebration of Doctors’ Day at the hospital on by hospital CEO Ed Noseworthy in recognition of her dedication to quality health care and for her caring, compassionate treatment of her patients," Bert Fish spokeswoman Cheryl Kennison said.

Clayton will officially be presented with her award at a hospital-wide celebration during Hospital Week in early May.

Each year BFMC employees have the opportunity to nominate physicians for the award based upon a list of qualities that include supporting the hospital’s mission and values, being committed to quality and excellence in health care, demonstrating a patient-centered approach to care, and being a leader in the hospital community.

Additional nominees included: Regina J. Asihene, MD, Patrick J. Berger, DO, Avrohm W. Faber, MD, G. Fredrick Herdel, MD, Paul C. Marton, MD, William P. McLeod, MD, Davor M. Pluscec, MD, Surya P. Rao, MD, Jacob D. Rouse, MD, Frank W. Toub, MD, and Michael J. Walters, MD.

She exemplifies what we strive to achieve in the hospital on a daily basis.”

Clayton graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Ohio and is board certified in general surgery. She joined Bert Fish Medical Center in 2009 as a member of Coronado Health Partners.
