NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Here is my question for the readers this week: Is "corruption, collusion and cronyism" taking place in New Smyrna Beach? You bet it is! As a matter of fact, based on the information and evidence readily available, the problem is more widespread now than at anytime in the last five years during the current and previous mayoral reigns.
As for the our elected officials' promise of transparency, it only exists as long as the political hot air did, the proof of which will come out during the election season next year.
Rumor now has it that there will be at least two challengers for the mayor's position, and no one else is going to run unchallenged! As for the corruption issue, we have the same group of folks lining their pockets with an endless stream of CRA money, which I don't need to remind you is your money.

If you have read or continue to read Henry Frederick's "Show Me the Money" stories, follow-ups and updates, perhaps you, too, will begin to see what is happening from right underneath your noses.
The hospital is talking again to the folks over at the CRA, who can't wait to get their hands on your hospital taxes so they can order new Christmas lights, shrubs and trees.
While on the subject of the hospital, up until this past Thursday evening, they were even planning to meet with the players from Halifax Hospital and Daytona. This is the case, even while we continue paying for the sins of the former board, its attorney and CEO.
So is the corruption worse? Well, what do you think? Get involved and find out for yourself.
Until the next time,
Bob Tolley
