NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The police union has approved a new bargaining agreement by a vote of 17 to 11, among rank and file members, Human Resources Director Carol Hargy announced midway through tonight's City Commission meeting.

No specific details were announced. Hargy said the approval is "marvelous," but otherwise deferred comment to the union.

The NSBPD has 45 allocated positions with three vacancies, Acting Police Chief Michael Brouillette said.
