NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Police here have issue a public alert for a 48-year-old Apopka man who reportedly left his home Wednesday to go fishing in the North Causeway and has not been seen since.

The missing man is Bernardo Enrique Rubio Hernandez.

Here is a synopsis of the situation as described by New Smyrna Beach Police Sgt. Valerie Joyce: Mr. Hernandez was believed to have launched his 1989 14 foot white in color boat at 170 N. Causeway. His vehicle and boat trailer were found there. Family members became worried when Mr. Hernandez failed to return early afternoon on 02/06/2013 from his fishing trip and notified NSBPD. A search of the intercoastal waterway was conducted by VCSO Air One. The search will continue at daybreak by U.S Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
