NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A message in Spanish to family and friends on Facebook is how Moises Hernandez Rivero is communicating with family and friends while he prays for a miracle as the authorities continue searching the waters off the North Causeway for his missing Apopka father, who left behind a vehicle and empty trailer Wednesday night at the city boat ramp and has been missing since.
This locator map shows where a vehicle and empty boat trailer were left behind Wednesday night on the North Causeway boat ramp by 48-year-old Apopka resident Bernardo Enrique Rubio Hernandez. Neirher he nor the boat have turned up as of mid-Friday afternoon."Gracias por sus oraciones. Sabemos y confiamos q Dios esta al control. Todo saldra como esperamos para la gloria y honra de El."
That is what the 25-year-old wrote on his Facebook page via his smart phone from the boat ramp 14 hours ago. Translated in English: "Thank you for your prayers. We know and we trust that God is in control. Everything is going to be like we expected for the glory and respect of him."
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is heading up the search 48-year-old Bernardo Enrique Rubio Hernandez with assistance from New Smyrna Beach cops, Volusia County Sheriff's deputies and the Sheriff's Air-One helicopter.
Hernandez reportedly left his Apopka home Wednesday to go fishing in the Intracoastal waterway, launching a small fishing boat from one of the boat ramps on the North Causeway.
Neither Hernandez nor the boat have turned up as of mid-afternoon Friday. FWC officials are not commenting on possible scenarios to explain the situation at hand.
