NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- An off-duty deputy was arrested Saturday night on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after at least one motorist called 9-1-1 to report she was "all over the road" and even driving in the oncoming traffic lane. When she was pulled over, fellow deputies saw that her 7-year-old daughter was in the front passenger seat.

"Volusia County Sheriff’s deputy Stephanie LeClerc has been placed on administrative leave with pay as a result of her arrest Saturday night by the Sheriff’s Office for DUI," Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson told Headline Surfer. "She was off-duty and operating her assigned patrol car at the time of her arrest."

An additional charge of child neglect will be filed against LeClerc because the 37-year-old mother had her child in the car with her.,  Davidson said.

LeClerc, hired by the Sheriff’s Office in July 1999, had been assigned assigned to Court Services at the Volusia County Courthouse Annex in Daytona Beach.

According to the Sheriff's arrest report obtained by Headline Surfer, LeClerc agreed to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed -- repeatedly staggering and nearly falling several times when asked to stand on one leg.

LeClerc refused to submit to a breathalyzer, according to the report and was placed under arrest after 7:30 p.m.

She had been initially spotted by motorists driving erratically on SR. 44 near Airport Road when on-duty deputies dispatched from the nearby Cabbage Patch in Samsula where Biketoberfest festivities were in swing caught up with her.
