PORT ORANGE -- The Wachovia Bank on Nova Road was robbed Friday afternoon, just hourrs after a Space Coast Credit Union branch was robbed in DeLand, but police from both agencies said they weren't certain if the two are connected.
The Wachovia robbery, at the corner of Nova and Spruce Creek roads, was at 12:30 p.m., about 90 minutes after the DeLand robbery.
Port Orange police were looking for a white man in his 50s with a thin build, heading north on Nova Road from ther bank in a dark-colored truck with no license plates. He was not armed and a dye pack put in with the money exploded.
The DeLand robber was described as a white man, 6 feet tall and weighing 170 pounds. He passed the teller a note, but did not show or imply he had a weapon. He ran off from the Space Coast branch, 1576 N. Woodland Blvd., with an undisclosed amount of cash.
