DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Volusia County Beach Patrol officer arrested earlier this month on charges of having sex with an under-age girl between 20-25 times at his Port Orange home, is now contesting his termination.

Robert "Bobby" Tameris, 44 and the father of two girls, was arrested Oct. 20, after the girl, who is now 18 or 19, told investigators with the State Attorney's Office that she had consendual sex with him when she was 16 and 17.

During one of those liaisons, Tameris videotaped their sexual activity without the knowlege of the underage girl, according to the charging affidavit. The victim told the investigators the two met when she was getting a tan on the beach. Investigators said they corroborated her story by equipping her with a recording device, capturing incriminating admissions by Tameris when she later went to visit him, according to the charging affidavit.

Tameris was terminated earlier this week, but is allowed a three-day window to challenge the termination.

He had been suspended without pay following his arrest while on duty at the beach, which was followed by brief incarceration at the Volusia County Branch Jail until his $250,000 bail was lowered.

The county spokesman said the two sides are reviewing the termination and Tameris' appeal.

"They (Tameris and his attorney) disputed a number of the facts in his arrest," Volusia County spokesman Dave Byron said. "We will have to meet with Tameris and his representatives to discuss the case and go from there."
