
ORMOND-by-the-SEA -- The bodies of two men found in a home in a home Sunday in Ormond-by-the-Sea have been identified through autopsies, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.
Autopsies were required in order to positively identify the victims and determine how they died because of decomposition. Based on
the findings of Monday's autopsies by the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office, the Sheriff's Office has officially classified the
case as a double homicide. However, Due to the ongoing investigation, the cause of death is not being released at this time, Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said.
The victims have been positively identified through their fingerprints as Michael John Floyd, 43, and Andrew Robert Kakowski, 26.
Floyd rented the home where the bodies were located, and Kakowski was an acquaintance of Floyd's who had been staying there for the past month or two.
Crime scene technicians were back at the house Monday collecting evidence at the scene. Investigators with the Sheriff's Office's Major Case Unit were interviewing friends and relatives of the victims and trying to retrace the victims' steps to determine where they were and who they were within the hours and days leading up to the murders.
