
DEBARY -- Children in grades 2 - 5 are invited to join Volusia County’s ECHO Rangers program, a hands-on educational 10-month program featuring the county’s ecological, cultural, heritage and outdoor resources.
The program is offered from September through June at more than 40 sites including parks, museums, libraries and historical sites. Participants are asked to visit at least eight sites and participate in specially designed ECHO Ranger activities.
For instance, children and their parents can study animal tracks and scat at Hickory Bluff Preserve, learn the history of Ponce Inlet at
Lighthouse Point Park, and take a free art and photography lesson at the Southeast Museum of Photography, said Pat Kuehn, a Volusia County spokeswoman.
Children and parents can learn more about the program at the following kick-off meetings:
● 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 210 Sunrise Blvd., DeBary.
● 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Southeast Museum of Photography, 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd., Building 1200, Daytona Beach.
● 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach.
● 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at DeBary Hall Historic Site.
