David Lawrence Walker, age 89, of Edgewater, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach. No service is planned at this time.
Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, Mr. Walker, a retired aerospace engineer, came to this area from California in 1989. He worked on the space shuttle's main engine, was a member of First Baptist Church, New Smyrna Beach, and an avid golfer. For the past 20 years, his passion has been restoring a 35 foot trawler.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Janice; 2 daughters, Betsy Ann Hicks of Moorpark, California, and Ann Tempest and her husband, Ron of Simi Valley, California; 1 stepson, Mark Richard Letts and his wife, Julie of Burbank, California; 1 brother, Jerry Thomas Walker and his wife, Marla of Green Cove Springs, Florida; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
