Daytona Beach NAACP President Cynthia Slater wants to see the Edmund Pettus Bridge renamed 'in memory of a true civil rights hero' - Congressman John Lewis

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Cynthia Slater, the longtime president of the greater Daytona Beach NAACP, would like to see the Edmund Pettus Bridge renamed 'in memory of a true civil rights hero' - Congressman John Lewis, who died Friday night at age 80. 

Another icon has gone home," said greater Daytona Beach NAACP President Cynthia Slater on her Facebook page. "We must fight now more than ever! Rename the Edmund Pettus Bridge in memory of a true civil rights hero."

Slater suggested renaming it "The John Lewis Bridge of Freedom," as she asked that he " Rest in Heaven, Congressman! Such an inspiration!"
