DAYTONA BEACH -- The Daytona Beach News-Journal continues its relentless assault on Headline Surfer simply because it is receiving advertising that the print outlet until now had all to its own. The Daytona paper's accusations ands innuendo don't even give Headline Surfer a chance to a respond.
Later today, we'll come back with reports o our own on the hypocrisy of the News-Journal and we'll show you that it is the biggest purveyor of taxpayer money than any other media organization in Volusia County, raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.
It's not just the News-Journal, but the municipal government of New Smyrna Beach under the direction of Mayor Adam Barringer and City Manager Pamela Brangaccio who have used taxpayer money to curry favorable coverage at our expense.
Both the News-Journal and the city are counting on us being so broke that we'll fold up our tent and go away. And they're banking that we have no money and therefore they can trample all over us. We have legal rights. They can continue to attack us, but ultimately, at what cost to them? What cost to the taxpayers?
Anyone who has seen the videos of the NSB Shrimp Festival has seen the bullying tactics of Traders bar owner Dave Fernandez and the three goons with him who aggressively created a scene in trying to stop us from filming Fernandez's beer garden. Fernandez did the same thing on Fat Tuesday.
When the full story is told it will be clear as the Sunshine that lights up Florida that the government of Barringer and Brangaccio -- already facing unrelated charges with the Florida Commission on Ethics -- is corrupt at the core. They are raising your taxes and feeding themselves and their friends at the taxpayers' expense.
And the News-Journal is nothing more than an extension of the money trail.
Editor's Note:
Below are Headline Suyrfer videos showing the disturbing behavior of Traders bar owner Dave Fernandez and his friends at the New Smyrna Beach Shrimp & Seafood Festival. Not only did the New Smyrna Beach police not make any arrests, they failed to even get the names of the parties involved in harassing Headline Surfer as it tried to shoot video on the public street.
No police presence despite beer gardens on Flagler Avenue
Headline Surfer videos by Henry Frederick / Traders bar own Dave Fernandez, shown below, and three of his associates did their best to try and prevent the 24/7 internet newspaper from shooting video of his outdoor beer garden on the public street during Thursday night's Shrimp and Seafood Festival on Flagler Avenue.
Editor's Note: Warning: One of his friends was intoxicated and used raw language. Fernandez is the boyhood friend of Mayor Adam Barringer and recipient of a $60,000 CRA grant to fix up his Flagler Avenue bar.
