DeLAND - A 46-year-old DeLand motorcyclist was killed on Ste Road 17 just north of DeLand early this morning after he pulled in front of a pick-up truck and struck in the rear of the bike before he was then fatally run over by a second vehicle that didn't stop, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
John C. Eaton had just left the Brass Rail Pub, just after midnight and was heading north when he pulled in front of the northbound Dodge truck, which struck the rear of his bike. He was thrown to the pavement and was trying to get away from traffic when a second vehicle struck and killed him, the FHP said. No definitive make and model was available. The driver didn't stop.
The victim had alcohol in his system, the FHP said.
