Memorial service for Dorothy Louise Vann, age 83, of Oak Hill, who died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Edgewater, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8 at Shady Grove Church of God, Oak Hill, with Pastor Jimmy Burch III, officiating.
Born in Punta Gorda, Mrs. Vann, a retired Volusia County School lunchroom aide, came to this area from Birmingham, Alabama. She was a member of Shady Grove Church of God and, as an "Avon Lady" for 40 years, knew everyone in Oak Hill. Mrs. Vann was friends with everyone and was loved by everybody.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Curtis Elwood Vann; 2 sons, Michael Vann of Athens, Alabama and Dale Sherrod of Jacksonville, North Carolina; 1 daughter, Abbie Naff of New Smyrna Beach; 3 grandchildren, Michelle and Curt Vann and Alena Wingerter; 6 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Vann's name to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Florida 32129.
