Ex-convict gets 15 years in prison for battery on a prostitute in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH -- An ex-convict is heading back to prison for another 15 years after his trial convictions today in the beating of a prostitute in a vacant lot on South Beach Street last September.

A jury found Michael Edward Beach guilty of three separate counts: battery, aggravated battery and false imprisonment.

Circuit Judge R. Michael Hutcheson sentenced the 36-year-old Beach to 15 years in prison for the aggravated battery, along with concurrent or adjoining sentences of five years to be served within the 15 years on the false imprisonment, according to Chris Kelly, spokesman for State Attorney R.J. Larizza.

Beach told the jury he paid $100 for sex on Sept. 2 after meeting the victim at a bar, but claimed he as the one assaulted, contrary to what she told the jury.

Beach has previously racked up a dozen felonies.
