Happy Father's Day

Today is Father's Day. And from this father to all of you out there, have a Happy Father's Day. This was a surprising Father's Day for me. My son, Henry IV, baked me a cake. He gave it to me with a card in which he wrote: "Hope you liked the cake. I made it all by myself."

Typical teenager -- Not! I was surprisingly pleased. Life with my son over the past couple of years has not been easy. Then again, being a teenager, in his case 15, is not easy, either. There are all kinds of peer pressure, electronics, a fast-paced world where social networking (i.e. Internet) is a way of life -- and sometimes an escape.

My son's card had a message that also made me feel special and knowing that raising him will be worth it for him when he's all grown up and has a teenager or two of his own: "Hope you have a great fathers day, you're the best dad in the world. Keep up the good job."
