DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- After a two-day trial, a Volusia County jury found Timmothy Hall guilty as charged to attempted kidnapping of a minor and lewd and lascivious exhibition on a child.
Circuit Judge Kathryn Weston presided over the trial at the S. James Foxman Justice Center in Daytona Beach that ended Wednesday with Hall's sentencing.
The girl was just eight years old when Hall tried to snatch her last summer in Daytona Beach Ollie's Bargain Outlet store where she was shopping with her her family after exposing himself, according to Daytona Beach cops.
Immediately following Wednesday's verdicts, Hall was sentenced by Circuit Judge Kathryn Weston in a Daytona Beach courtroom to 30 years in state prison and will be serving day for day as a prison releasee reoffender. Typically, a convicted felon only has to serve 85 percent of a prison sentence, but in this case, the time behind bars is locked in, and he'll be designated a sexual predator for life.
Here is a synopsis of the crimes alleged that led to the Volusia County jury's guilty verdicts and his subsequent Hall adjudication of guilt by the judge:
On July 11, 2025, a 7-year-old girl was playing with her brother inside a Daytona Beach store while her family shopped. Hall approached her while holding and exposing his genitals.
As Hall continued walking toward the girl, he motioned with his other hand for her to come to him and reached out to grab her, causing her to scream. Hall then ran out of the store but was apprehended by Daytona Beach cops after his image was recorded on shown surveillance video getting into his vehicle. He was later nabbed on a fugitive warrant in Jacksonville.
Hall was sentenced on March 21, 2012, to 15 years in peison in Hillsborough County for the lewd and lascivious exhibition charge, involving a child less than 15 years of age. He was subsequently released from state prison on Oct.10, 2024, and has since faced additional charges in Volusia County that led to his recent conviction and return to prison.
Hall's prior sexual acts weighed heavily in his lengthy time in prison this time around.
“I thank God that most folks never experience the raw and dreadful reality of criminal activity,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza told Headline Surfer in a prepared statement.
“It is inconceivable that someone would target a 7-year-old girl in such a way, especially in a public place," said Larizza, whose office prosecutors, Kevin Betancourt and Paiton Mizell, successfuly tried the case here in Daytona Beach against Hall. "Your prosecutors are hyper vigilant in their efforts to protect you and your family. The defendant received the maximum penalty, but 30 years doesn’t feel like enough.”

Hall will be 85 years old if he lives long enough to serve out his prison sentence. And even then, he'll be listed as a sexual predator limiting his movements.
