MULTIMEDIA: Orlando Police body cam video released in May 1 officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of 25-year-old gunman

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Orlando Police Department has released body camera video of the officer-involved shooting that occurred on May 1 in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 4620 Cason Cove Drive.

At approximately 5:47 p.m. on that date, OPD received 9-1-1 calls about a man with a gun at a 7-Eleven store in the 4500 block of Conroy Road. While the suspect was walking through the parking lot, one caller advised that he pointed the gun at someone. Surveillance video also captured him with the gun in his hand inside a nearby dry cleaners.

When Orlando cops arrived at the scene, they located the suspected gunman in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 4620 Cason Cove Drive. Officers issued multiple commands to drop the gun in both English and Spanish to the suspect. When he failed to comply and drop the gun, he was shot. He was later pronounced deceased after being transported to a local hospital.

The gun in the deceased suspect’s possession was recovered. Further investigation revealed it was a simulated firearm. He was identified as Orlin Manuel Bueso Calderon (DOB 06/24/1999), had a criminal history including charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine. He was also previously arrested for miscellaneous drug and traffic charges.

The officers involved in this shooting were placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure, Orlando Police said.

As with all officer-involved shootings, an independent review conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be turned over to the State Attorney’s Office.
