Sera and I worked for two days straight putting together the video series on the third and final candidates debate. In all there are seven videos from Monday night's event at the Brannon Center that drew more than a hundred people to see zone 1 commission challenger Judy Reiker and incumbent Randy Richenberg square off and mayoral challenger Adam Barringer and Sally Mackay go toe to toe.
It was imperative to get the videos posted as soon as humanly possible to provide ample viewing by the public before Early Voting takes place. Our first two candidate debate collectively drew more than 20,000 hits and we believe had an impact on the primary election turnout, which more than doubled that of the previous municipal primary in 2007.
We want to be perfectly clear that the journalism portion of the debates, from preparation to the actual interviewing of the candidates, were done exclusively by NSBNEWS.net. The Public Watch Committee -- citizens Robert Tolley and Robert Rees -- dealt with setting up the site and servicing the audience.
We've decided to let the videos speak for themselves as we have done with our two previous debates so that the viewer can make up his or her own mind who brought their A game and who did not.
These videos take a lot of production time, at least one hour for every 5 minutes of video. Not a single element of the dialogue was omitted so when you watch the videos, you'll get a feel for what it was like -- all in high definition digital quality sound and picture.
We need to play catch-up on a number of other important stories today. Again, thanks to everyone for their support and trust in us at NSBNEWS.net to demonstrate yet again that "this is where journalism lives."
