
Editor's Note: Here is the obituary and notice for Madison Holley, 19, and her unborn son, who were killed, along with her father, Cy Holley, 46, in the Memorial Day boat crash near Disappearing Island in New Smyrna Beach:
A Funeral Mass for Madison Alexander Holley, her son, Carter Ace Simons and her father, Cy Holley, who died tragically on Monday, May 31, 2010, will be held Saturday, June 5th at 10:00am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 359 W. New York Ave. in Deland, FL with Fr. Tom Connery officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 5th from 5-8pm at Lohman Funeral Home Deland, 935 E. New York Ave., Deland, FL. Madison was born in Slidell, LA and moved with her family to Deland 11 years ago when she was in 3rd grade.
She graduated from Deland High School (class of 2009) where she was a cheerleader for three years and the business manager for Fashion Plates. She had recently begun working toward her nursing degree at Daytona State College. She worked part-time at John Knox Village in Deland as a caregiver.
Madison was a loving, giving and compassionate teenager. She was a caretaker at heart and very excited about becoming a mom. Everyone who knew her agreed that she would have been an amazing mother. Madison was always smiling and enjoyed the beach. Like her father, she loved attending Mardi Gras in New Orleans and Louisiana State University sporting events. Above all, she loved taking care of babies. She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her mother, Paige; her brother and "best friend" Taylor and her boyfriend, Michael Simons, all of Deland; her grandparents, Brenda and Stephen Hicks of Ormond Beach, FL; her grandfather, Jimmy Hankins of Del Rio, TN. Madison was proceeded in death by two grandparents, Elizabeth Hankins and Cy Holley, Sr. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Louise and Mark Rumfello of Prairieville, LA, Theresa and Mike Reinarts of Eagan, MN, Billie and Bob Jensen of Marvin, NC, and Neil Hankins of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by six admiring cousins, Kathy and Kelsey Rumfello, Katie and William Reinarts, and Logan and Davis Jensen.
Carter is survived by his grandparents, Paige Holley of Deland, FL, Susan and Ronny Grow and C Eldon and Brandy Simons, both of Lake Helen, Florida. He is also survived by great-grandparents, Brenda and Stephen Hicks of Ormond Beach, FL and numerous aunts and uncles. Carter was proceeded in death by great-grandparents, Elizabeth Hankins and Cyril Holley, Sr.
