Orlando-based Orange County Sheriff's Office: Deputy Michael Milmerstadt on life support for head injury in off-duty workout

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Orange County Sheriff’s Office tweeted on this Thursday afternoon that the family of an Orange County deputy who suffered d a head injury Monday during off-duty training at a gym has bid farewell to him.

“It is with deep sadness that we inform you Deputy Michael Milmerstadt’s family has said goodbye to him,” the Sheriff’s Office tweeted. “Mike remains on life support because it’s their wish that he provide a chance at life to others through organ donation.”

The OCSO asked the public to "please keep his wife, their boys and his loved ones in your thoughts" while respecting the family's privacy." 

The OCSO said Deputy suffered a serious head injury on Monday during an off-duty training session at a gym, and as a result, is hospitalized in critical condition.

The sheriff’s office shared a Go Fund Me account to help raise money for him and his family as he recovers from brain surgery. So far, $118,566 has been raised. The goal is to generate $250,000 goal since he's the lone provider for his familiy.
