ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Magic have selected guard Jase Richardson with the 25th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
As expected, Duke's Cooper Flagg was the overall No. 1 selection of the Dallas Mavericks.
Richardson (6’1”, 178), 19, appeared in 36 games during his freshman season at Michigan State University, averaging 12.1 ppg., 3.3 rpg and 1.9 apg in 25.3 minpg., while shooting .493 (144-292) from the field, .412 (47-114) from three-point range, and .836 (102-122) from the free throw line.
He was named to the 2024-25 All-Big Ten Third Team, earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors, and was a NCAA South Regional All-Tournament selection. Richardson scored second on the team and helped the Spartans reach the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.
Jason Richardson, his father, played 13 seasons in the NBA, including 109 regular season games (109 starts) with Orlando from 2010-12, where he averaged 12.8 ppg., 3.8 rpg., 2.0 apg. and 1.09 stlpg. in 32.2 minpg.
Jase Richardson will wear #11 with the Orlando Magic. He joins a team that’s gearing up to take the next step in its development. After two straight first-round playoff appearances, the Magic made a significant swing this offseason, acquiring guard Desmond Bane in a trade from the Memphis Grizzlies. Along with franchise cornerstones Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, versatile center Wendell Carter Jr., and guard Jalen Suggs, who is returning from injury, Orlando has plenty of young talent that’s determined to make noise in the postseason.
